Hi,
Just trying to do a simple ms sql 2012 developer edition install on a win 7 machine. It would be easy except this machine has a laplink upgrade history. Some old registry entry from the ms sql 2005 install is messing up the current 2012 install. I've uninstalled ms sql 2005 and ms sql 2008 but this registry thing is still stopping the 2012 install. I had a thought about this. If I uninstall all ms sql prior version, look around on disk and delete any leftover ms sql related files, and then go into regedit and completely delete any ms sql 2005 and 2008 entries, that should give me a fresh start on ms sql 2012, right? No files, no installs, no registry entries. There's nothing the machine can remember about an old ms sql install, right?
