Installing SQL 2008 R2 failed on install of RS, IS and client tools with the same error: "The cabinet File 'sql.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package". The installation was run from a DVD created from the technet iso image of 5/3/2010. I've attempted to download the image several times and each copy was the same size and there were no failures in creating the DVD from it. The image was burned on two separate DVD's using two different optical drives and run on two separate machines to remove the hardware and media from the equation. I even tried to copy the contents of the DVD locally to the C drive and run the installation from there. Contents copied fine but still produced the same error.
Has MS released a bad image?
