sql server 2012 install errors
SQL 2008 R2 Cluster Setup - Error
Hi,
I'm trying to deploy an SQL 2008 R2 Cluster, but I am getting an error each time I try the install, the error is as follows:
The following error has occurred:
There was an error setting private property 'VirtualServerName' to value 'RPMSSQL' for resource 'SQL Server'. Error: Value does not fall within the expected range.
I have tried to run this both on Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise and also on Windows 2012, but both fail at the same step.
Is there anything you could suggest to fix this error please?
Thanks,
Trevor
Upgrading SQL 2008 Standard SP3 to SQL 2012 Enterprise on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (6.1 Build 7600)
Hi!
I have gone through the supported OS list for SQL 2012 Enterprise edition but couldn't find Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (no service packs installed, 6.1 Build 7600).
Could anybody please confirm if the upgrade path is supported without having to upgrade Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard to Service Pack 1?
Thanks in advance

Not able to uninstall MSSQL server 2008 from my server machine
Hi,
I had installed MS SQL server 64 bit on my Windows 2008 64 bit server machine.
It is already having SQL 2005 on it.
I had created 2 instances MSSQLSERVER and MSSQLSERVER1 on the machine.
Now I have to uninstall MSSQL 2008 from this machine. but when i go to add/ remove programmes and select MSSQL for uninstall i am getting error : An error occurred while trying to uninstall Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (64-bit). It may have already been uninstalled. Would you like to remove microsoft server 2008 (64-bit) from and features list?) YES/NO
But actually it is not un-installed and still there. after cliking on YES nothing happens.
So i have unstalled the other components seperately like Database Engine, Full text search. Still not able to install SQL server. What is the soultion for this.
Need immediate help on this...
Thanks
~Amit

Reporting Services Error after installing SQL 2012 SP1 CU4
I have encountered a problem with report parameters in SQL Server 2012 SP1 after applying Cumulative Update 4 (Build 11.0.3368). Some of the report parameters are grayed out and will not allow data input. The reports function correctly in production (Build 11.0.3350). I have removed the update from my development instance and the reports functions correctly again. I have attached images of my development and production report screens showing the issue.
Thanks,
Could not find the Database Engine startup handle in SQL Server Express 2012
I’m about to move from Vista 64 to Windows 8 64, because I want to have all my computers to be running on the same operating system. However, I ran into a problem with the installing of SQL Server Express 2012. It works very well under Vista and I had no problem at all with the installing. Normally I works in Visual Studio 2010, but the plan is to move to Visual Studio 2012 as soon as possible.

Can't copy SQL 2005 (9.0.1399) Standard database to SQL 2008 ( 10.0.1600) Enterprise Evaluation edition
Hi all!
I decided to learn MS SQL server so here is my first problem, that I can't to solve :/
I have a database in MS SQL 2005 server that I decided to copy with Copy Wizard to the test machine. Test machine has MS SQL 2008 Enterprise Evaluation version. The problem appears, when I choose destination server and click next, I get an error"sql server version 10.0 is not supported" . Does it mean that I can't to copy DB from standard version to the enterprise at all?
Many thanks!

Uninstall "SQL 2008 R2 Express" (Common Files & Database Engine Shared)??
I've been trying to uninstall SQL 2008 R2 Express but no luck.
I think I didn't remove the components in right order in Control Panel..
Now, I have left with a component calll "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Setup (English)" which I can't get rid of..
When I try to uninstall it, it gives me an error "Warning 26003. MS Server 2008 R2 Setup Support Files cannot be uninstalled because the following products are installed:
SQL Server 2008 R2 Common Files
SQL Server 2008 R2 Database Engine Shared"
If I click OK,
it says something like "Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package"sqlsupport.msi"
at this point, it wouldn't let me uninstall nor reinstall..
Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you!
Installing extra SQL Server Components
Hi,
I have SQL Server 2008 installed on a server but it only includes the following:
SQL Active Directory helper Service(Disabled)
SQL Server(Started)
SQL Server Agent(Started)
SQL Server Browser(Disabled)
SQL Server VSS Writer(Started)
I now want to install the following extras:
SQL Server Analysis Services
SQL Server Full text Search
SQL Server Integration Services
SQL Server Reporting Services
If I do this will any kind of restart be required(server, service or otherwise)?
Cheers
Paul
Multiple collation in sql 2008 in the same instance
Hello,
I'm trying to create a new DATABASE with multiple collation (Hebrew, Russian, English).
How can i do it? (If it is possible).
Thanks.
SQL Server 2008 std 64bits setup failes on Windows 2008 server std
- All prerequisites are OK
- we tried to use as many defaults as possible exept the locations of the databases themselves
- We did not need to install reportservices and analyses services
- We used an account with admin rights
- The host is not a DC nor member of an AD.
After a while we keep getting this error:
The following error has occured:
Method failed with unexpected error code 32
Click 'retry' to retry the failed action, or click 'cancel' to cancel this action and continue setup
Retrying keeps popping up the same message 9not that strange...)
Canceling the actions let the setup continue, but afterwards the engine is not installed, only the selected options, tools and so on.
I found something in the Application eventlog (multiple entries):
-initerrlog: Could not open error log file ''. Operating system error = 3(The system cannot find the path specified.).
Unfortunately i have no clue which ppath this should be, we use setup with admin rights so all paths should be accessable
Next message occurred three times:
-.NET Runtime Optimization Service (clr_optimization_v2.0.50727_64) - Failed to compile: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\Binn\dtsinstall.exe . Error code = 0x800700d8
and a warning:
A provider, SQLServerEventProvider, has been registered in the Windows Management Instrumentation namespace root\Microsoft\SqlServer\ServerEvents\MSSQLSERVER to use the LocalSystem account. This account is privileged and the provider may cause a security violation if it does not correctly impersonate user requests.
I have tried to use different accounts (local system, a local user account) to authorize the sqlserver services with.
We are becoming a bit desperate, all we want is a normal standard SQL 2008 box, no clustering or anything fancy
Please help!!!

How to move SQL standard database to SQL Express
The SQL Standard is setup for Windows Authentication Only.
When I try to restore the databases in Express I get an Access denied.
Do I need to change the Standard to mixed mode first & set up an 'sa'? Sorry I no prior experience moving databases in SQL and this is my 1st time using Express.
If someone can step me through this I would be muchly grateful!!

Can't start services under NT Service account
Hi,
After an installation on a VMWare environment, the services for SQL Services running under NT Service-"account" are no longer running and I'm not able to start them. I also tried to change the account to Local User without any luck (authorization issue I suppose?).
If I reinstall, would I be able to change to Local Service during the installation processs? And if I do, would it create any other problems? Or should I ask security to create a domain account that could run the services, or what is a good way to adress this?
Error code during SQL Server installation on 64 bit.
